Summary : Week Orchard settlement earthworks up to 0.5 metres high appear to overlie an irregular mound circa 30 metres east to west by 25 metres and up to 1.5 metres high. The possible remains of a motte.
More information : SS 23460035. Settlement earthworks to c.0.5m high in the area of Week Orchard to the north of the present buildings. They appear to overlie an irregular mound c.30m E-W by c.25m and up to 1.5m high which may conceivably be the remains of a small castle (1), Week Orchard being an important Domesday settlement (2). Recommend earthwork survey and geophysical survey (1). (1-2)
