Summary : Bishops palace used by the bishops of Carlisle, constructed during the 13th century and demolished in 1821.
More information : [Area SK 388 249] The palace of the bishops of Carlisle
stood within a short distance of Melbourne church on the north
bank of the pool. It appears to have been a 13th century
building and was taken down in 1821, the house built on the site
being now inhabited by Mr. John Earp. (1)

The 19th c. house is that situated at SK 3885 2498. There are no
apparent remnants of the earlier building. (2)
