Hob Uid: 1549979 | |
Location : Medway Hoo St. Werburgh
|
Grid Ref : TQ7536973403 |
Summary : A small square structure, probably representing a gun emplacement, was constructed within the earthworks of a First World War redoubt on Deangate Ridge. The structure is visible on aerial photographs and has been mapped as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. It could have been associated with the redoubt (Monument 1546165), but seems more likely to be of Second World War date. It was located between Chattenden Magazines (Monument 1481790) and Lodge Hill Ordnance Depot (Monument 1077634), and was probably one of the many defensive features, including a 64 gun Z battery (Monument 1454727) and a military camp (Monument 1545549), which were associated with the two large military installations during the Second World War. |
