More information : TQ 377870. Site of Leyton Grange Manor House.
Original construction date is uncertain but after 1610 the building here served as the Manor House. (The location of the earlier Manor House is lost). At a later date this building, in turn, had a change of use. It was improved c. 1709, a later C18 view shows a 5 bayed 2 storey structure with engaged columns. Enclosures and farm buildings lay to south-west and south-east of the house, extensive grounds and ponds lay to the north. The entrance lay at the junction of Grange Park and Church Road. The house was demolished in 1861. (1) |
