Kate's Cabin, a farmhouse, bears the datestone 1819. This is
possibly a rebuilding or a restoration. The present occupant
knows of no further finds in the immediate area.

TL 131955. Trial excavation at Kate's Cabin revealed that
roadside settlement extended at least 1.5km to the south of
Durobrivae. Traces of masonry buildings were found beside a
drainage ditch that ran along a cobbled spread which may have been
the edge of Ermine Street (RR 26). Little dating evidence was
recovered, but it did include some colour-coated pottery.
