Monument Number 1036390

Hob Uid: 1036390
Location :
Northumberland
Greenhead
Grid Ref : NY6660065700
Summary : Two Roman military ditches seen in excavation, possibly indicating the site of an earlier larger fort at Carvoran.
More information : During the building of two bungalows on the east side of Carvoran House in 1981 and 1985 two military ditches were found, one running E-W extending the line of the north ditch of the fort, the other running N-S and cutting it. They may represent two periods of the fort with a long axis extending well to the east of the known fort. (1)
