Listed building description:
Fire station, now café. Dated 1903; extended 1912 to matching design by Coales and Johnson for Market Harborough District Council; 1950 addition to rear. Brick and ashlar limestone, plain tile roof. 2 storeys, 4 bays; bays 1 and 2 of 1912, bays 3 and 4 of 1903. Green-glazed brick piers on granite bases support 4 segmentally-arched vehicle entrances, having folding, part-glazed double doors. The arches are moulded and set within an ashlar panel; over bays 3 and 4 the words 'URBAN DISTRICT COUNCIL FIRE STATION / 1903'; cornice interrupted at centre. First floor: brick aprons and moulded sills to curved, mullioned and transomed 4-light windows, having casements with glazing bars. Chamfered ashlar piers at each end and bay division, rise through a cornice on corbels to form dies linked by curved brickwork parapet panels.
