Full description
A rectangular field within the scheduled area of Old Winteringham was fieldwalked in 1981.
63 pieces of Romano-Britsh pottery were collected, mainly from the higher ground near the eastern hedge line and above the 25 ft. contour. This relatively small number of sherds was thought to be due to the lack of surface weathering. The WGM 81 archive does not contain any detailed identification of this pottery.
168 pieces of post-medieval and modern pottery were also collected, mainly from the lower parts of the field. [1, 2]
