Full description

Cadney and Thornton le Moor were decoy airfields for the night fighter station at Hibaldstow. [1]

A Second World War 'Q-type' bombing decoy located at Cadney. Designated Q90A, it was constructed to deflect enemy bombing from RAF Kirton in Lindsey airfield. It is referenced as being in use between 1st August 1941 to 12th May 1942. By 1973 the site had become a reservoir - no features of the decoy survive. A control building was originally located at TA 012 047. [2]

Note that the NMR record (Reference 2, above) states that Cadney was a decoy for Kirton in Lindsey, but Hibaldstow airfield was closer. [3]

Wartime Air Ministry 'Defence Measures' maps show the general location of this decoy. [4, 5]
