Full description
A benchmark with a value of 10.3 ft was indicated on the Ordnance Survey 25" second edition map of 1908, located at SE99110836. [1]
A boundary stone at this location in 2016 carried a benchmark on one edge.
The stone itself appeared to be earlier, and was inscribed 'G . B. ST. J. ', with 'C . C .' below and an eroded year, possibly beginning '18'. [2]
Local information suggests that the inscription represents 'Glanford Brigg St John's Church Council'. The boundary marker appears to be ecclesiastical, although its position did not coincide with any parish boundaries on the 1908 OS map. [1, 3]
