Full description
Noted in List of suspect shrunken and deserted village sites in Worcestershire. [1][2][3]
Berrington - SO 575674 - is a suspected medieval village, according to Rowley. The earliest form of the name "Beritune" of the Domesday Survey, signifies "Bera's farm" but Stenton has shown that "tun" properly meaning farm must have the wider sense of village or settlement of free peasants. (National Record of the Historic Environment Sources: List of suspect DMVs 1969 (T Rowley), EPNS 1 pt 1 1969 42 (FM Stenton), EPNS 4 1927 83 (Mawer Stenton & FTS Houghto) ). [4]
