Cheshire West and Chester

Summary : Canal bridge of circa 1854 built on the Trent and Mersey Canal, built to give access to farm buildings. For that reason, it may have been an experimental design. It has vertical brick piers and a flat top composed of brick jack arches supported by wrought iron rivetted plate girders resting on sandstone pads. The thrust of the jack arches is resisted by wrought iron bolts.
