Summary : Site of a corn windmill, mentioned late 16th/17th century. Excavation of the mound revealed a Neolithic burial; a Mesolithic flint working site.
More information : [Area centred TA 16596753] sited from map in authority. A corn windmill called the Bridge Mill, is mentioned in various documents relating to Bridlington, dated 1591, 1595, 1623 and 1631. (1)

At TA 16616760 is a mutilated mound possibly the remains of a windmill mound.
A 25" survey has been made. (2)

During the excavation of the mill standing on Bessingby Hill in 1969 and 1970 a Neolithic burial was discovered together with evidence of Mesolithic occupation. (3-4)

Mesolithic finds including cores, scrapers, microliths, axes and blades/flakes listed from Bessingby at a NGR of TA 165 676 (general). (5)
