Summary : The approximate site of Roman milecastle 70. There are no visible remains, and geophysical survey in 2000 failed to locate it. It is likely that it was substantially or completely robbed and therefore did not show up on the survey.
More information : The site of Milecastle 70 was previously conflated with NY 35 NE 13 (dressed stones found in the garden of Braelees), but there is no evidence as to the location of this milecastle. The measured position is 300m north of Braelees towards Monkhill Beck (at approximately NY 3515 5898) but there is no surface trace of a milecastle here either. (1)

There are no visible remains of the milcastle (at Braelees), and geophysical survey in 2000 failed to locate it. It is likely that it was substantially or completely robbed and therefore did not show up on the survey. (2-3)
