Summary : Temperance hotel, comprising dining, tea and assembly rooms and accomodation, designed by Grayson and Ould in 1900 for William Hesketh Lever. In 1902 it was given a licence to serve alcohol. It is a two storey building, U- shaped in plan, constructed of machine brick with half timbered cladding to the first floor. Additions to the building took place in 1964. The interior was remodelled during the 1980s.
