Summary : Roman road. Link road between Ermine Street (Owmby Cliff) and High Street (Claxby). Visible in parts as a thick band of metalling and in lines of hedgerows.
More information : RR 274 Roman Road. Owmby Cliff - Osgodby - Usselby. A north-eastern branch from Ermine Street - RR 2d (LINEAR 314) follows a single alignment which under favourable conditions can be seen as a thick belt of metalling near Owmby Cliff Farm. It it also visible over the fields of Osgodby Moor and along the eastern street of Normanby, continuing by a line of hedgerows. It would cross Dale stream at Dale Bridge where a terraced strip beside the stream may represent it. The Market Rasen - Caistor road was crossed south of Usselby village, marked by hedgerows, and the route then probably climbed the Wolds near Claxby and joined High Street - RR 270 (1) See Linear Archive File for further details.
