Summary : A cistern structure at RAF Bicester technical site, situated immediately north east of the water tower. It was built to a 1924 design. It is a rectangular metal tank constructed above ground level with an inspection platform to the east side. This structure was among the features considered for possible inclusion in a potential conservation area at the base by an English Heritage report produced in May 2003. |
More information : An English Heritage report produced in May 2003 describes this feature as a "reservoir" of 1924 design, "part of a group with the water tower and power house". The report recommended that this structure could be included in a possible conservation area at the base rather than being considered for potential Listed Building status. (1)
On plan SP 5824/ SP 5924 the feature is shown as a covered structure immediately to the north east of the water tower at SP 5911 2445, which matches the shape and location of the feature given in source 1 and in the relevant Building File. (2) |
