More information : The painted lines of a network of fake hedgerows within Shoreham Airfield centred at TQ 2024 0556 which were mapped from historical aerial photographs taken in 1941as part of the English Heritage: South Downs NMP project. This was a common practice at the height of enemy bombing undertaken to camouflage the airfield from enemy aircraft passing over the site at night. (1)
